Independence Day in Elkridge, MD

A couple silhouetted against a backdrop of fireworks exploding in the distance

In this post, the Verde at Howard Square Apartment has everything you need to celebrate the 4th of July in Elkridge, MD. The 4th of July is our favorite summer holiday. Celebrate with Elkridge events, summer dishes, and fun summer games and activities.

Elkridge is one of the best cities to spend Independence Day in. There’s nothing quite like watching the fireworks over the Chesapeake Bay. One of our favorite events coming to the city is Elkridge’s Ports America Chesapeake Fourth of July Celebration. The description for the event states, “Commemorate Independence Day with live music and celebratory fireworks in the heart of downtown Elkridge. The event will showcase music by U.S. Navy Band starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater on Pratt and Light Streets. At 9:30 p.m., the multicolored fireworks show, choreographed to patriotic and contemporary music, can be viewed from several locations downtown and in the surrounding neighborhoods of Federal Hill, Fell's Point, Canton and Harbor East.  In case of severe weather, the fireworks show would take place July 5, 2017.”

Simple Slow Cooker Shredded Buffalo Chicken from Host the Toast

Celebrate your Independence Day with some spice. Strike the pulled pork off your menu, and replace it with this simple slow cooker shredded buffalo chicken instead. Use boneless skinless chicken breasts, your favorite brand of hot sauce, dry ranch mix, and butter to make this delicious dish.

Summer Orzo Pasta Salad from A Cedar Spoon

Toss together cooked orzo pasta, cucumber, crumbled feta cheese, garbanzo beans, cherry tomatoes, red onion, basil leaves, mint leaves, and parsley to make the salad. Finish off this salad with a red wine vinaigrette dressing made with red wine vinegar, lemon juice, honey, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. This is the perfect meal for anyone who wants something light for their 4th of July.

Activities and Games

Spend your 4th of July taking a dip in our swimming pool, roast marshmallows in our outdoor, 24-hour fire pit, or hold a party at our 24-hour clubhouse. Take a walk or play a game of frisbee on our acres of parkland, trails, walking paths, and open space. Spend your 4th of July lounging around your Verde at Howard Square apartment!
