Relax in April

This month the Verde at Howard Square Blog has several tips and tricks to help you relax. Take a deep breath, turn on some relaxing music, and de-stress this April. We hope that you have a wonderful (and calm) month in your Elkridge, MD apartment.

Feeling stressed? Take a moment to meditate. WebMD says that meditation can help your body better adapt to dealing with stress. Set aside ten minutes each day to recite an affirmative phrase, measure your breathing, and let go of your worries. For ten minutes, just think about your affirmative phrase (this is a great time to practice positive self-talk) and let go of the deadlines, errands, and chores that usually occupy your mind. Meditation is an awesome way to calm down and relax.

After a rough day at work, it can be helpful to picture your happy place. Visualize a relaxing scene and let yourself let go of everything that’s stressing you out. The Mayo Clinic says, “During visualization, try to use as many senses as you can, including smell, sight, sound, and touch. If you imagine relaxing at the ocean, for instance, think about the smell of salt water, the sound of crashing waves and the warmth of the sun on your body. You may want to close your eyes, sit in a quiet spot and loosen any tight clothing.”

Calming colors can also help you relax. House Beautiful has a great article on The 10 Soothing Paint Colors That Will Change Your Life. You may not be able to paint your Elkridge, MD apartment, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t incorporate these colors into your life! We love the idea of decorating with a rug, a throw pillow, or an art print in a relaxing color.
